  1. Wrap fennel seeds, cinnamon pieces, and lightly crushed peppercorn in cheesecloth and secure with kitchen twine.
  2. Pour wine into a large saucepan and add your aromatic bag, bay leaves, star anise, orange strips, and nutmeg.
  3. Cover and simmer for ten minutes, then remove from heat and let stand for 30 minutes.
  4. Take out bag and orange strips.  Then stir in sugar until dissolved. Serve warm and enjoy!
